Last night as I lay between being awake and slumber I received a very strong message.
Focus on what you have.
It just kept repeating over and over, and I knew exactly what it meant.
I am a spiritual seeker and for quite some time now, I’ve been receiving the message to stop seeking. However, obviously since I’m still graciously being sent the same message in different ways, I haven’t quite got it. I’m struggling with finding a balance between my hunger for more, and letting it all go so I can discover truth within.
It seems to be coming to a head as yesterday in my meditation I had a very frustrating experience. I could tell I was pushing, trying and controlling. Wanting connections, seeking bliss, pushing for insight. And they pulled back. They let me sit in my own self created anguish, and boy it was frustrating.
Then right at the end, as I was coming out I witnessed a small round ball of light just sitting there inside of my chest. I couldn’t overly feel it, I just gained an awareness of it.
And it was as if it was crying out for me to sit with it. Not go into it, not expand it. Just sit with it.
So that is where I’m at. It’s hard to not push forward, but the messages are clear.
Focus on what you have.
What are you overlooking?
What would happen if you ceased to push forward for one day, one hour or even one minute?
The only aspect of life we can truly control is our state of being.
And when we master that, everything else falls into place.
But we complicate our existence.
What areas of your life feels complicated and a mess right now?
Have you let your ego-mind take the reigns?
Do you have hidden drives clouding your judgement in this area – such as money, self-worth, jealousy, pride?
We always know the way out of our problems, and how to reduce the complications and complexities in our lives. And it’s certainly not through lists of pro’s and con’s, or through deep analysis, or through speaking to people about how annoying and wrong other people are.
It’s through doing nothing. Just stopping everything, pausing from your life, and giving a chance for your heart to speak.
Our deeper knowing is always there, but we just have to get out of our heads to give it a chance to be heard.
Call on your Soul to speak to you. It’s language is powerful yet subtle, and it usually doesn’t speak in words. Here’s a quick exercise to help you connect into your own wise inner force.
2 Minute Soul Voice Meditation –
Shift your focus away from everything and everyone in your life, and move it to your heart. Close your eyes, and keep your focus on your heart beating deeply inside of your chest.
Inhale fully. Let your mind rest, without ‘trying’ to silence it.
Exhale. If your attention has drifted, that’s okay. Bring it back to your heart. Can you feel it beating? Breathe into it.
Stop for a moment and look at this photo. (Yes this is a real place, not that I have been there but apparently it’s Golden Eye Hotel, St Mary Jamaica – in case you were wondering 🙂 ). But let’s put the details aside for a moment.
Gaze deeply into the photo. Take a big deep breath in and when you exhale, breathe out towards the photo and follow your breath.
Next imagine yourself in the photo.
Where are you? Are you swimming in the water or standing on the balcony?
Now bring the photo to life. Close your eyes and move around in there.
Feel the water against your body, or the wood against your feet.
Engage your senses.
Can you hear the sounds of the water, or birds?
Is the air fresh or warm? Can you feel the sun pouring warm golden sunshine onto your head and back?
What do you want to do now you’re here?
You know, you can do anything!
How do you feel?
Let the water wash your frustration away.
What would it take for you to play? Maybe you want to do a bomb into the water or swing from the trees.
