About Me

SC imageWelcome and thanks for exploring my site. My name is Sharon and I’m originally from Australia, and these days I live in Wellington, New Zealand running a full-time healing practice by the ocean.

I’ve been a spiritually based therapist for about 6 years and I work to help people to heal their past and discover their authentic self, which also involves exploring their Soul wisdom, or higher self.

Years ago, my life looked quite different to how it does today. I was depressed in my job but had no idea of what else I could do, I had extremely low self-confidence and had difficulty expressing myself even to my friends. I hated my body and lived in an internal world of self-criticism, judgement and doubt. I had no idea what the point of life was because each day seemed like such a struggle.

These days however, I am happier and more peaceful than I’ve ever been. I enjoy expressing myself and experience deep and fulfilling relationships. I’ve discovered my soul passions and been able to implement major life changes so I can follow these dreams.

The major turning point in my life was discovering hypnotherapy, and with the support of my therapist, I was finally able to understand myself and my thoughts better, heal my past, and gain the courage to change things.

We all need a little help sometimes, and if we can only reach out then great change can ensue.

It’s through my journey, the highs and lows, that I have gained a deep understanding that you can be peaceful, loving and feel lighter no matter what is going on around you; however the key is love and acceptance of yourself. The realisation that you can actually be your own best buddy; always encouraging and supporting yourself, helping YOU to the best that you can be. And through this support you can discover your passions and dreams, and then actually have the confidence to make them your reality.

It’s my passion to help others realise this for themselves.

To understand that there is another way to live – a much MUCH more enjoyable way to live. I help people to heal the past and become free from restrictive, limiting beliefs and old patterns that keep them stuck, and actually discover their true worth – their authentic self. I help people to love and accept themselves, and through this self-acceptance discover their utter magnificence and their innate ability to heal and empower themselves.

I’m a holistic hypnotherapist and Healing Practitioner, and work with people one-on-one from my clinic in Wellington, New Zealand as well as online anywhere in the world over Skype. I also teach meditation classes and facilitate self development workshops.

I work with my partner David Candy, who is also a holistic hypnotherapist and together we created Waking Life.

My Story   Hypnotherapy, spiritual, hypnosis, past life, life between lives, soul,

I discovered this work many years ago, at a point in my life when I recognised I needed some help. I could barely think over the loud, critical voice in my head; a negative voice that was always there to tell me what I couldn’t do and reminding me what I had done ‘wrong’. Then one day as I was flipping through a newspaper I noticed an ad for a Hypnotherapist. I had no idea what Hypnotherapy even was, but I went along anyway; I was desperate. After my first visit I knew I was on the right track. I could feel a major shift right away and it felt good. These sessions helped me so much that my passion was ignited. I knew this was what I wanted to do; that this was what I had to do.

With a new career path I went back to study, initially completing a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy at the Academy for Transformational Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Hypnoenergetics at the Institute of Energetic Transformation and I commenced work with clients. My practice grew along with my interest in the healing arena, which lead me to embark on a long and in depth journey in energy healing, starting with an introduction to crystal healing, as well as completing my 1st Degree Reiki, to going on and completing the full Reiki Mastership / Teacher training.

At this point I was working from a new clinic in Newtown, Sydney and loving every minute of helping people to heal trauma and pain, and regain their personal power, as they changed their inner landscape to be one of self-belief and confidence. Although the more my clinic grew the more I was encountering very interesting experiences – many of my clients were spontaneously regressing into past lives! After being a fan of the work of Michael Newtown and Brian Weiss for sometime, I knew this was a path I was ready to go down. Luckily for me I found a Diploma in Past Life Hypnotherapy being held in Melbourne by The Newton Institute!

After completing both the The Newton Institute Diploma, as well as a Diploma in Past Life Hypnoenergetics from the Academy for Transformational Psychotherapy my sessions changed greatly. Working in the realm of our soul energy and higher wisdom helps people personally experience a connection to their higher self, spirit guides, accessing and healing past lives.

My work blossomed in this clinic however as time rolled on I knew that it was time to listen to the nagging nudges I had been experiencing from my soul and the universe to move New Zealand! So the following year my partner and I relocated to Wellington, NZ and we now run a full-time Healing Centre in Seatoun, as well as work with clients worldwide through Skype.

I am so passionate about helping people discover and realise their full potential, and to help them no longer feel held back from living a full and fabulous life. I help people to become empowered, to discover who they really are and to love what they find.

To contact me email contact@wakinglife.co.nz  or phone 0011-64-22 059 4808 (New Zealand) and we can arrange a Skype session.

  3. Hello Sharon! Congratulations on your new blog! I really like how you kept things clean and simple. Everything is easy to find. As for feedback, the only thing I can say is that the two photos on your About page look pixelated. Perhaps you can use ones that are higher in resolution.
    Happy blogging!!

  8. Hi Sharon. I wanted to thank you for contributing a few words to my journal book. I am editing it now. I noticed a few words of your comment got a little bit mixed up in the proof. I haven’t found your original comment yet and wanted to check with you if this sounds right.
“My ‘here’ is similar to yours, a deep and awakening connection to my Self and to all of reality. When I am ‘here’ I am wide awake and often barely able to move as I marvel at the wonder of all of us. Here is where everything is miraculous!”
(It was the part “I marvel at the wonder of all of us” that I changed that was messed up. Is this correct?) Thank you again!!
    Love and many gentle blessings,

    1. Hi Laurie, sorry I haven’t responded to this sooner. I haven’t really been on the blog arena for a little while. That is wonderful you are using it for your book. I can’t wait to read it when it comes out. Yes that is pretty much it, hoewever just a small change to the line you mentioned: ‘as I marvel at the wonder of it all’
Thanks 🙂 hope you are well! Sharon xoxo

      1. Thank you. I don’t know how it got messed up. I appreciate your help! Love, Laurie It should be out soon. ❤

  11. Hello Sharon, Thank you for this post. I do a lot of self talk and suffered from chronic depression and PTSD because of a toxic work culture and workplace bullying. I am glad you overcome this major epidemic around the world…I wish you well and lots of happiness.

    Here is my self-talk..:)

Hi Sharon, Thanks again for taking the time to read through my blog post today. I have just started looking at your page now, but will spend more time in the coming days. We do seem to be on a similar path, wanting to ease the pain we clearly see in others. Its amazing that your healing centre is near the ocean, that is a goal for me, Ocean, horses, and a healing Centre…to do everything I do and help all who come my way 🙂 Love and Hugs Suzanne Bertolas

  15. I love your ethos of helping others. It reminds me that I must do it more often. I need to get away from my rather selfish attitude. By helping me I only help myself, but by helping others I help myself at the same time. Win win! 🙂
    Thanks for your inspiration, Sharon.

    1. Great realisations Robert. And really, through helping others we help ourselves anyway because it feels so good and fulfilling 🙂 Double whammy 🙂
